ELI.

Liquid Church,video -- July 18, 2010

My latest artwork is for the ELI series.
This was a very open brief, only requesting desolation and despair within the artwork.
From there we were to create one video Teaser and 3 Scripture videos for 3 chapters of Elijah’s story.
The process:
- Storyboard the scripture passages by grouping common locations/people/elements for artwork
- Create each element separately, using Tracing Paper to allow scene layering
- Scan the drawings in
- Paint each element separately within Photoshop

From there the files were taken into After Effects for the animating process.

I’m really happy with the results. The style is some weird hybrid of cartoon and realistic textures, while the elements have their own character as they swap in and out of the scene.

Check out 3 of the 6 created videos below.

Barbie Stop Motion

Design,Liquid Church,video -- February 2, 2010

We were going through some old files in the office today and found some equally old videos from a previous series in February 2009… okay – so maybe not that old.

They were my first effort at stop-motion photography, and they had me hiding in the office basement for days playing with Barbies. Hrmm… The final result turned out much better than expected, though! So after hours of careful Barbie manipulating, hundreds of photos and a dash of Photoshop & Final Cut, we arrived with 3 series promotional videos: Beach, Night-Club and Anniversary.

If you’re interested, you can check out the rest of the Heat series here.
Enjoy.

Liquid Church Mobile

Design,Liquid Church -- November 12, 2009

We’ve just previewed a sneak peek of the new Liquid Church Mobile… check it out below.
I’ve been working on the design of this site for a while now, and it’s finally going into early user testing before it’s rolled out for the start of 2010!
Exciting stuff!

One of our biggest goals with the Mobile site was for it to be accessible from all Smart Phones, not just the usual iPhone application, so we’ll be working hard to get this onto as many phones as possible! If you own a smartphone that can access the internet, you will soon be able to:

- view Message and Worship Archives
- sign-up to Liquid events
- interact with the Online Community
- watch Church Online LIVE from their phone
- take message notes during a service
… and much more!

Other aspects of the design will allow you to share videos and links with friends via the Liquid Church Facebook/Twitter/Vimeo accounts, as well as have differing tools and options depending on whether you are ‘New to Liquid’ watching ‘At a Campus’ or doing ‘Church Online’.

If you want to sign-up to help us test this new side of Liquid, checkout this link here.

Meanwhile, here is the sneak peek graphic…

Frontline Church.

Liquid Church -- June 12, 2009

Two posts in one day : wow, I know!

However, I was checking the blog of our Internet Campus Pastor Dave Adamson this afternoon and ended up reading an incredibly inspiring letter that I had to pass on… I’ve taken the liberty of ‘borrowing’ it from his post to share it with you but check out the rest of his blog Aussie Vibe too!

______________________________

Hey!!
I have a cousin who is in Iraq and was complaining to me about the one thing he misses most is going to church. I told him about the iCampus, and how great Liquid is! He happened to be online yesterday (the internet is not the greatest there) and told me that now there are 3 laptops set up when the iCampus is on because there are so many soldiers who watch it.
I wanted to say thanks to Liquid – we really are bringing church to the people! Especially the ones who need it! The ones who are away from their friends and family. What a great place for a church to be!
So thanks again!

______________________________

I was speechless. What an absolutely incredible letter! There are soldiers in Iraq having church with us in their tents!! No longer is the Church limited to wherever the building is – not that it should ever have been – but it is wherever people can gather together, even if they are ‘going to church’ on a computer!

In the words of Pastor Dave, “Take that everyone who has questioned the purpose or validity of doing church online. We’re reclaiming internet ground for the Kingdom.”

Drink Water, Save Lives

Liquid Church -- April 25, 2009

Question: Have you’ve ever seen those photos of starving, disease-riddled Africans and wondered, “what can I do anyway?”
Answer: If you saved just $1 a day for three weeks, you have enough money to give an African child clean drinking water for 20 years!

Yes, 20 years!

Our church is about to start a new 4-week, Spring series called Lub-Dub. Throughout the series Liquid will be raising money for fresh water wells in Africa by asking everyone to take the Liquid Water Challenge. Here’s how it works – everyone who attends a Liquid service in New Jersey this weekend will receive a Liquid LOVE bottle of water and then be challenged to fast from all drink except water for the remaining three weeks of the series. The money people save on coffee, tea, beer, wine, sports drinks etc can then be saved and placed into the empty Liquid water bottle!

At the end of the three weeks, people will be able to send the money to us as a cheque or through the Liquid Online Giving Page, so we can partner with charity: water to build freshwater wells in northern Ethiopia.

And here’s the great news for people not located within New Jersey: YOU CAN GET INVOLVED! The Liquid Church Internet Campus is sending empty bottles to all those who want them so they can start saving lives too! If you want to partner with Liquid in this challenge, click here to provide us with some details so we can send you a Liquid bottle of LOVE – wherever you are in the world!

Last year, Liquid funded more than 30 wells in sub-Saharan Africa – wells that are now pumping and saving thousands of lives!

If you want more info about the Liquid Water Challenge, check out the Liquid iCampus services this weekend, with Pastor Tim speaking while in Ethiopia and visiting the wells!!
